Representatives of Fami Foundation attended the first joint meeting of partners in the new project "Transcultural Competences in the Western Balkans (TCCWB)" in Zenica. The project is financed by the European Union.
"Transcultural Competencies in the Western Balkans (TCCWB)" is a capacity-building project designed to support higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania in developing materials that will enable nursing students in the region to provide culturally compatible care to all service users, including those with migration background or those on migration routes through Europe.
The goal of the program is to ensure that nurses have the knowledge, positions and skills to treat the migrants equally in provision of basic healthcare services. In line with the regional priority to "support innovation and reform within the education sector that responds to the skills need on labor market of the future", the co-creation of a new study program focused on transcultural competences, implemented through the nursing curriculum in higher education institutions in the Western Balkans, will bring benefit to both the lecturers and students.
Besides Fami Foundation, the partners in this project are also the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zenica, Faculty of Medicine of the University of East Sarajevo, Department of Health Care of the "Džemal Bijedić" University in Mostar, University of Applied Sciences in Brussels, University "Luigj Gurakuqi" in Shkodër, University of Applied Sciences Turku (Finland), University of Eqrem Çabej Gjirokastër (Albania) and Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures (SMOC).
