The second meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, management of primary health care centers, centers for social work, local authorities and the Fami Foundation, with the aim of improving comprehensive community nursing services, was held in Mrkonjic Grad. Agreements on interinstitutional and inter-professional cooperation were signed in three municipalities of Celinac, Mrkonjic Grad and Knezevo. Community Nursing, in addition to providing nursing care, also includes providing support in the domain of social welfare, mental health, healthy aging, palliative care, and care for caregivers and others. In order to achieve comprehensive provision of these services, it is necessary to establish interinstitutional and inter-professional cooperation with key local partners at the municipal level.

Key local partners (service providers at all health care levels, service beneficiaries including socially excluded categories, representatives of municipal authorities, centers for social work, patient associations, and/or others) will, in line with their capabilities and available resources, participate in dialogue to identify possible solutions to key challenges for the improvement of community nursing. This creates conditions at the municipal level in Mrkonjic Grad, Celinac and Knezevo, for provision of high quality community nursing services to the ultimate satisfaction of the beneficiaries and in line with the local context.

Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina project is supported by the Government of Switzerland. Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska continuously works to provide community nursing services and improve the quality of life of socially excluded population groups.
