Representatives of the Working Group for revision of standards and norms in nursing in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a two-day meeting with experts from Slovenia exchanging experiences and discussing models for the development of nursing specializations.

The meeting was organized as part of activities aimed at improving the professional development of nurses in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the development of a specialization model that would contribute to the strengthening of the nursing profession and the quality of health care.

During the first day of the meeting, Jakob Ceglar, Advisor to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Slovenia, presented the experiences of the Slovenian healthcare system in the development and improvement of the nursing profession. Special focus was on the institutional and organizational steps that preceded the introduction of specializations for nurses in Slovenia, as well as the role of health institutions and the education system in that process.

On the second day of the meeting, Monika Azman, member of the National Council, representative of healthcare, shared the experiences of introducing nursing specializations in Slovenia with members of the Working Group for the development of a specialization model in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She particularly underlined the importance of clearly defining competencies, professional standards and career development of nurses.

Members of the Working Group from the Federation of BiH presented the ongoing activities on revision of standards and norms in the field of nursing, including work on developing specialization models that would enable additional professional development of nurses in various areas of health care in the future.

Discussions were open and substantive, including exchange of experiences, professional knowledge and examples of good practice. The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities for the development of nursing specializations, as well as the importance of continued cooperation and exchange of experiences between experts from different health care systems.

The meeting took place in the spirit of cooperation and support from the experts from Slovenia in the current processes in the Federation of BiH, with the goal of further developing and strengthening nursing profession and improving the quality of health cares.
