Not only the quantity but also the quality of the implemented interventions and the sustainability of the achieved results are very important to us. In this regard, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska conducts expert supervision on regular basis in primary health care centers in municipalities where we have improved the provision of community nursing services. A workshop for representatives of seven local communities: Celinac, Knezevo, Mrkonjic Grad, Kotor Varos, Sipovo, Istocni Drvar and Ribnik where the community nursing model in Republika Srpska was improved during the previous year, was held in Mrkonjic Grad. The representatives of the selected municipalities presented their action plans for continuous improvement of community nursing.
As part of Strengthening Nursing in BiH project, 31 nurses were trained, three nursing rooms were equipped in the primary health care centers Mrkonjic Grad, Celinac and Knezevo, and 19 community nursing bags were donated for provision of community nursing services in this part of Republika Srpska.
Eldin Fisekovic, Project Manager, said that the project started 12 years ago and underlined very close cooperation with the ministries of health of Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. About 200,000 KM were invested through the project activities in seven municipalities in this part of Republika Srpska.
Assistant Minister of Health Milan Latinovic said that the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska participates in Strengthening Nursing in BiH project, supported by the Government of Switzerland and implemented jointly with Fami Foundation, aiming to improve health care for its population.
Ivan Savicic, Head Nurse at Primary Health Care Center Celinac emphasized that after a year of participation in Strengthening Nursing in BIH project, the patients of that primary health care center now receive improved community nursing services, which is exactly the goal of this project. We have increased the volume of home visits to chronic patients, who are not in the hospital treatment system, and deserve home health care, and we have increased preventive care in patients’ homes, Savcic pointed out.
Zeljina Brljic, Head Nurse at Primary Health Care Center Kotor Varos said that the support they received means a lot, as the equipment is one of the key elements for their work.
The Director of Social Welfare Center Mrkonjic Grad, Dragan Plejic, said that the center's duty is to identify beneficiaries in the field, set priorities and provide information to the family medicine mobile teams and the community nurse where the users live and what kind of service they need, and that provision of these services is the result of the cooperation of all partners in the local community.
