A delegation of health professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina successfully concluded a study visit to Slovenia organized by World Health Organization (WHO) and Strengthening Nursing in BiH project funded by the Government of Switzerland.
Over the past few days, we visited:
» Ministry of Health of Slovenia – We discussed the primary health care strategy, policy development and financing of community nursing.
» Primary Health Care Center Ljubljana – We learned about the integrated approach, the work of family medicine and health promotion centers.
» Primary Health Care Center Domzale – We learned more about multidisciplinary work, home care and the 24/7 health care model.
» Health Insurance Fund – We exchanged experiences on financing the health sector and economic aspects of sustainability.
» National Institute of Public Health – We explored strategies for managing chronic non-communicable diseases, e-health and digital solutions in health.
» Center for Mental Health Ljubljana – We learned about the organization of mental health services within primary health care.
» Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine – We discussed improving education and practice in family medicine.
» Zbornica Zveza (Association of Nurses and Midwives of Slovenia) – We learned about the important role of nurses in primary health care, prevention and health promotion.
Special thanks to Zbornica Zveza for organizing an extremely useful meeting with representatives of the nursing profession on the last day of our visit.
This visit brought valuable insights and examples of good practice that we will use in the further development of primary health care in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
