Primary Health Care Center Celinac hosted the first five-day part of supplementary training in community nursing supported by the Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina project. The participants in the training were: 31 motivated nurses, 12 experienced lecturers and 7 primary healthcare centers.
The training principal goal is to improve the knowledge and skills of family medicine nurses, necessary for providing quality, comprehensive community nursing services.
During the five days of training, numerous topics were covered, such as the role of nurses, availability of healthcare system resources and services, education and employment of nurses, medical records use and maintenance, work of nurses in primary health care, as well as safety of community nurses, social inclusion and discrimination prevention, nursing care for pregnant women, childbirth and breastfeeding, palliative care, newborn care, social welfare, patients' social needs assessment and cooperation with the social welfare system.
Dr. Milan Latinovic (Assistant Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska), Mirjana Jankovic (Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska), Drasko Kupresak PHCC Celinac), Smilja MarinkoviC (UCC Banjaluka), Malina Jeremic (PHCC Zvornik), Milica Dikic (Bijeljina Hospital), Prof. Dr. Biljana Mijovic (University of East Sarajevo), Miljana Andjic (PHCC Prijedor), Silvija Gambiroza (UCC Banjaluka), Spomenka Hatilovac (UCC Banjaluka) and Branka Sladojevic (Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska) shared their knowledge and experience with the nurses through numerous presentation and practical work.
This training is part of the Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina project, and is implemented by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska and the Fami Foundation with the support of the Government of Switzerland. The purpose of this activity is that the community nursing services users benefit the most – patients and all citizens of the municipalities of Celinac, Mrkonjic Grad, Knezevo, Istocni Drvar, Kotor Varos, Ribnik and Sipovo.
